GENERATIONS
Generations of art therapy students at UAOS
The development of Art Therapy in Croatia is evident through the presence of different generations of art therapists, showcasing the field's growth, diversity, and ongoing evolution within the region. Visionary figures of the first generation, with their pioneering spirit and experience, have laid the groundwork, fostering an environment where successive generations of art therapists can build upon and contribute uniquely.
Some of the foreign professors who have supported art therapy education and come to Croatia:
Mercedes Ballbé ter Maat, Ph.D., LPC, ATR-BC, HLM, is a professor in the Department of Counseling at Nova Southeastern University’s College of Psychology in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She is a past president of the American Art Therapy Association and the European Branch of the American Counseling Association.
Lisa Raye Garlock, Ph.D., ATR-BC, ATCS, LCPAT, is a professor at the Columbian College of
Arts and Sciences, she he manages and curates the GW Art Therapy Gallery.
Ashley Hartman, PhD, LCAT, LPC, LMHC, ATR-BC, is an educator, counselor/ art therapist,researcher and artist.
Heidi Tanya Hilgendorf-Bardot, MA, ART-B, LCPAT, Director, Art Therapy at The George
Washington University GWU.
Abbreviations:
ATR-BC: Registered and Board Certified Art Therapist, has met specific education, clinical experience, and ethical standards set by the Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB) in the United States
LCPAT: Licensed Clinical Professional Art Therapist
ATCS: credentialed art therapy supervisor
LMHC or LPC: stands for Licensed Mental Health Counselor.
